This is what I call boat launching Alaskan style. This is Anchor Point on the Kenai Peninsula.  We had stopped to do some birding (in the rain.) We saw these big tractors and wondered what they were used for.

In just a minute we had our answer as the tractor hooked up a boat trailer and then backed into the ocean!   One guy drives the tractor, another rides on the tractor hitch to latch the boat securely to the trailer. We thought this was pretty cool.

The tires on this tractor are five feet tall so you can roughly figure how deep into the surf the tractor went.  There is no ramp, just a sandy beach.

One guy drives the tractor, another rides on the tractor hitch to latch the boat securely to the trailer. This was a little boat, some of the boat trailers were HUGE. Makes me wonder how far out into the water the tractor can back up.
